Emily Aptekar

A literacy specialist, NYC DOE Master Teacher, and teacher mentor- Emily brings over two decades of experience in the classroom to HMS. Emily has been working with Teachers College at Columbia University’s Reading and Writing Project since 2001, and was a lab site/model classroom for District 15 in Brooklyn, supporting teachers in best practices and leading professional development. Emily values making connections, asking questions, and fostering independence. Emily is the faculty advisor for our school’s chapter of GSA. She can’t wait to hear about your favorite (and least favorite) books, and is eager to see pictures of your pets!
