Forest Ecologists & Nature Explorers
Emphasis on ecology and natural systems through wildlife tracking, plant identification and foraging basics, stream water purification, nature-based games, and habitat exploration. Campers gain a deeper understanding of interconnected ecosystems while developing observation and scientific inquiry skills. Each day includes a rich blend of hands-on learning experiences:
Earth Living Skills: Fire-making (bow drill, flint & steel), shelter construction, tool use, rope and cordage making
Nature Crafting: Soapstone carving, woodwork projects, natural dyes, basketry, nature art
Ecology & Exploration: Wildlife ID, plant identification, water purification, habitat observation, nature journaling
Nature-Based Games & Team Building: Cooperative games, awareness activities, storytelling, sensory exploration
Friday Meal Share Tradition: Each Friday to close out the program, campers participate in a communal meal preparation and fire cooking experience. Each participant is assigned ingredients to bring, and the group collaboratively prepares and cooks a meal over an open fire. This culminating activity builds community, teaches practical cooking skills, and celebrates the week's learning. Note: Monday–Thursday, campers bring their own lunch.
