About the Course
In this creative, hands-on afterschool class, students dive into the world of Zines--DIY Mini Magazines made from drawings, writings, collages and mixed media. Each week students learn a new storytelling skill: how to design characters, develop visual narratives, experiment with collage, create expressive lettering, and combine images and words with style and intention. By the end of the program every student with have built a collection of small-format zines and a completed final zine they can trade, share and take home. The zine-lab is all anbout self-expression, experimentation, and telling meaningful stories in a format that feels modern, accessible and uniquely their own

Marlo Page

Marlo joined the High Meadow community in 2024. She brings over two decades of creative and professional experience, with a background spanning retail design, brand storytelling, digital strategy, and visual communication. She holds a BFA in Fine Arts from SCAD. At High Meadow, Marlo teaches art to students in grades 5–8, helping young artists explore contemporary art, craftsmanship, and visual expression.
Marlo enjoys teaching because it allows her to nurture curiosity and confidence through hands-on making. She is continually inspired by her students’ ideas and the thoughtful, creative spirit that defines High Meadow.
