About the Course
Campers in this hands-on art making + filmmaking workshop from Little Animation Studio get a chance to dream up their own unique time travel themed adventure stories and bring them to life under the lens of Stop Motion Animation. Working in small production groups, our young filmmakers will work together to design worlds all their own. Next they will use a variety of art making materials and processes to create their sets and characters to inhabit their time travel adventures. Finally, they will use professional grade stop motion software "DragonFrame" to animate their work using DSLR cameras and mac laptops. After they have wrapped filming, they will engage in a Foley workshop and record voice overs. Finally, we will animate the filmmakers themselves during a "pixilation" exercise (the animation of living subjects). The finished film will be screened for the whole camp community and will be followed by a Q and A with the artists.
Your Instructor
Laura Bellmont

Laura received her masters degree in Arts Education from Pratt Institute and graduated with honors, earning her initial certification with the NYC Department of Education.
The Little Animation Studio is also a DOE Vendor serving children in the NYC public school system.
Laura has created an original method of teaching that is rooted in her consideration of each student as a unique learner. She regards her teaching practice as a living art form. With each new program, Laura and a small team of highly skilled educators, animators, artists and art therapists, work together to create a new approach to teaching by using stop motion animation filmmaking as their vehicle to impart more complex skill sets and concepts.
