Maia D’Egidio

Academic
Interventionist

Maia began her career by working with not-for-profit agencies specializing in the care of children and their families, with a focus on mental health. Maia has a Masters in Special Education and Behavior Disorders from Hunter College, along with a second Masters in Literacy K-12. She is also certified in Orton Gillingham methodology.


Maia worked as a Learning Specialist at Community Roots Charter School in Fort Greene, Brooklyn for the last 16 years. During this time, she taught reading and writing intervention in small groups and worked closely with teachers, families, and support teams to plan and discuss the best ways to support the unique learning needs of children. Maia is very passionate about having a positive effect on student achievement and about creating and being a part of a nurturing environment where all students feel included and bring their whole selves to school.
