Stop Motion Animation

This hands-on art + stop motion animation camp enables a group of up to 12 students to have an immersive experience creating fully realized animated films while being charged with learning how to use professional-grade filmmaking software and equipment. Working in small, collaborative production groups, we will follow the animated filmmaking process from concept and design to building sets and characters and finally stop motion animation production. Using professional grade stop motion software "DragonFrame Stop Motion", campers will bring their visions to life and even get a chance to get in front of the camera themselves during "pixilation" exercises (the animation of a living subject).

This Weeks Theme: Stop Motion Animated Food Films:

This week-long stop motion animation workshop takes cooking to a whole new imaginative level using Stop Motion Animation to create incredible impossible recipes. We will explore a wide variety of art methods and materials to create unique dishes which will be filmed using dslr cameras, mac laptops and professional grade software "DragonFrame". Our young filmmakers will work in small production groups to explore different stop motion methods in order to bring strange ingredients to life. Next, they will record sound effects during a Foley workshop and do voice overs for their films. Finally, the filmmakers will get in front of the lens themselves during a "pixilation" exercise (the animation of living subjects). On the last day of camp we will invite families to visit our classroom to view the artwork and see a world premier of the finished collaborative film. The film will be posted on our Vimeo page and shared via password protected link.
