Students in this hands-on, spring break workshop will invent and create their own repertoire of mythical creatures. Using a variety of art making methods and techniques, they will design and build unique worlds filled with magical inhabitants and will bring these creations to life using stop motion animation. Students will work in small production groups and will use professional grade equipment and animation software “DragonFrame” to learn animation techniques to tell their stories. Our young filmmakers will record voice over and make their own sound effects and will get a chance to be in front of the lens themselves during a “pixilation” exercise (the animation of living subjects). Finally, the finished short films will be edited together and screened for family and friends on the last day of camp. The edited film will be shared via online link and visitors may download and share again and again.
