Festival Happenings

This free event will include presenters featuring children's book authors, illustrators, comic book artists, graphic novelists, and storytellers sharing their craft. Kids of all ages can meet some of their favorite, local literary icons, and storytellers including Jon Muth, Walter Simonson, Louise Simonson and Julie Fogliano.

Don't miss our incredible free offerings: Come listen to book readings, learn to create calligraphy, and visit the Harry Potter Apothecary. When your done join us for a game of Quidditch out on on the green.

Used Book Sale

Head over to our Used Book sale to help complete your child's at-home-library. We will be selling gently used and high quality books throughout the day. Grab a bag and fill it up!



Literary Walk

Join us for a walking tour featuring some of your favorite literary characters of The Hudson Valley like Rip Van Winkle, Johnny Appleseed and more. Want to dress up as your favorite literary character while you do it? We welcome it!

Live Music

Sit around the fire and listen to incredible live music throughout the day. Local musicians will join us on the porch. Want to join the fun? Grab a drum and participate in the drum circle with some world class drummers.

High Meadow Cafe

Stop by the Cafe for all things sweet and savory. Food provided by Full Moon Resort, Applestone Meats and other local bakers

Jon Muth

Jon J Muth's highly acclaimed picture books are beloved around the world and have been translated into more than ten languages. All of Muth's work has received awards and critical acclaim. Zen Shorts was named a Caldecott Honor Book and spent 41 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. The art for his first children's book, Come On, Rain!, written by Karen Hesse, won the Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators in 1999. Stone Soup also won a National Parenting Book Award. The Three Questions was a Book Sense book of the Year finalist and a NCSS/CBC Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People. Muth also did the illustrations for Old Turtle and the Broken Truth, written by Douglas Wood, and I Will Hold You 'Til You Sleep, by Linda Zuckerman. Muth lives in upstate New York with his wife and four children, where he spends time "chasing the clouds from his brushes."

Walter Simonson

is best known for his work on Marvel Comics titles in the 1980s and 1990s such as The Mighty Thor and X-Factor (the latter being a collaboration with his wife). Thor in particular is often cited as a true comic book classic.

Louise Simonson

is an American comic book writer and editor. She is best known for her work on comic book titles such as Power Pack, X-Factor, New Mutants, Superman: The Man of Steel, and Steel. In recognition of her contributions to comics, Comics Alliance listed Simonson as one of twelve women cartoonists deserving of lifetime achievement recognition.

Josh Paynter

has been dedicated to Chinese studies for nearly thirty years. He received a B.A. in Chinese Studies from Bard College with a focus on Daoist traditions, including studying at Yunnan University in Kunming, China. He will share the history of Dragon Mythology in China, followed by a wonderful hands-on lesson in Chinese Calligraphy.

Julie Fogliano

is the New York Times bestselling author of and then it’s spring and if you want to see a whale as well as the poetry collection, When Green Becomes Tomatoes. Recipient of the 2013 the Ezra Jack Keats award, her books have been translated into more than ten languages. Julie lives in the Hudson Valley with her husband and three children. When she is not folding laundry or wondering what to make for dinner, she is staring out the window waiting for a book idea to fly by.

Big Sky Ensemble

Dean Jones and his fantastic band, Big Sky Ensemble will be performing at Meadow Fest! This Hudson Valley favorite is a unique tuba-driven collective featuring the music of the Valley's finest musicians, that swings from South African Township to New Orleans Second Line to the Australian Outback to Indonesian Dangdut, Jamaican Mento, Turkish odd-metered tunes, and their own compositions.

Literary Adventures

Come on the Literary Walking Tour. Vist the Harry Potter Apothecary or catch a game of Quidditch. Little ones can join us for a spot of tea or catch a song with the always hilarious, Billy Deltz.
